Ad Hoc is a multi-disciplinary collaboration between Ric Leichtung and Emilie Friedlander with music’s independent roots as its beating drum. The two founders were editors of a larger group, the former Altered Zones – a digital hub of 14 music blogs. Together, they are keen on underscoring the new grassroots and Internet-fueled DIY culture on the new site, adhoc.fm.

Altered Zones

Ad Hoc is a 100% independent, daily music and visual culture publication from…some of our favorite music bloggers, and active imaginations from all across our global grassroots community. – Ric Leichtung

Their world-wide community is composed of musicians and bloggers from Louisville, KY; Auckland, NZ; Los Angeles, CA; Dallas, TX; London, UK; Queens, NY; San Jose, Costa Rica; Berlin, Germany; Cambridge, UK and Brooklyn, NY. They need a place to call home on the interwebs for a new music hub. As of today, their Kickstarter has gone live. Take part in the community and help build adhoc.fm!

One of its radical ideas is empowering their audience to realize that materials to build anew are at their disposal. Adhoc.fm is the daily refinery for MP3s, videos, mixes, interviews, artist’s writings, and cultural commentary created by their trusted community of musicians, visual artists, writers and bloggers. In addition, they will also publish a digital and print quarterly zine that will include artwork and multi-media content. Here are some of the great ears and minds that hear and think alike:
