This past Saturday we hit the launch party for rising Philly-based artist Yis Goodwin a.k.a. NoseGo, who was celebrating the release of his new video game Catball Eats It All at Masthead Print Studio. NoseGo mixes fine art with a contemporary style to create imaginative pieces of work. He holds a B.F.A. in Film and Digital Video from the University of the Arts.
Earlier this year, Goodwin (above – left) contacted NYC’s Broken Compass Studio producer Jeff Hsu (above – right) about creating a video game. Hsu put together a talented team of game designers, programmers, etc. The original music for the game was provided by Ben Thornewill (from Yep Roc Records’ Jukebox the Ghost). They started a Catball Eats It All Kickstarter campaign, which was also chosen as the website’s featured Project of the Day. The team reached its funding goal this summer, and was invited in October by the new Leonardo Museum in Salt Lake City to exhibit its work in-progress. The Leonardo Museum focuses on displaying exhibits that combine art, science, and technology. Visitors were allowed to see how the Catball Eats It All game studio made the video game from hand-painted artwork to the nearly finished prototype.
At the launch party, you were invited to partake in live game playing, discussions with the creators, complimentary beverages, a raffle for exclusive artwork (we won a rad original NoseGo vinyl toy from Dreamland Toyworks), and more. Catball Eats It All is currently available for iPhones and iPads (which you can download via iTunes), and it will be coming to Android products in January.
