(Ann Demeulemeester Spring Summer 2012).

We’re two months away from yet another Fashion Week, and it’s safe to report on what the streets of NYC will be dishing out come springtime. (Although, we’re not entirely sure how the weather will differ with this fall heatwave going on). It appears that baggy, over sized tops are back in style. As reported from fall Fashion Week, neon and dayglo are set to contrast the gritty grey structures that make up the city’s “natural” environment. The 90′s are reincarnated, minus blissfully confident consumers and major record labels running the show.

This past CMJ gave way as to what’s happening in the electronic music sphere.  One group in particular, Inc., showcased the latest trend of reinventing “90′s R&B.” “Plaintive vocals reminiscent of Prince, with traces of pop, funk, R&B and club-esque Balearic beats … The heartfelt, complex sound is completely cutting edge” – LA Times.

As for designers and boutiques to be on the lookout for, we highly recommend paying attention to Christoper Shannon, Marc Jacobs, Opening Ceremony, Wooyoungmi, Loden Dager, Tim Coppens, Comme des Garçons, Proenza Schouler, Kenzo, and Kaelen – just to name a few. The major takeaway is to not be afraid of bright colors and high contrasting patterns. Of course, if you want to play it safe with subtle greys, blacks, and earth tones, Logan Neitzel, Rochambeau, and Ann Demeulemeester make excellent choices.
