This year’s Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival brought in acts from all over the world. We experienced Toronto’s Doldrums, who’s energy filled the entire Music Hall of Williamsburg on Friday night. Check out our earlier coverage of Eric Asher’s experimental project.
Babe Rainbow’s DJ Set at Cameo was punchy, and full of emotion and mystery. The crowded room totally dug it and was moving to his beat matched jams. They perfectly timed set sounded great in the intimate back room of the Lovin’ Cup Cafe.
Next up was our favorite act of the entire weekend, Beacon. You can get their EP today and hear why we love them so much. They’ve got elements of R&B in all the right places, and their stage presence is spot on. Like a fantastical creature in a colorful forest, the lead singer moved all over the stage to the mystifying music being created. We became immediate fans.
Closing out the night for us, Diamond Rings put on a show with a wonderfully flamboyant persona. His voice is very contradictory to his styling and comes out as deep, masculine, and references 80s rock. While the background beats were prerecorded, he sure knows how to tear up a piano.
